The roots of Astral Rescue Command, or ARCOM, can be traced back to 2945, during the catastrophic Vanduul attack on Vega II. The Battle of Vega was one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent UEE history. As the Vanduul tore through local defenses, leaving devastation in their wake, a small group of UEE Navy medics and Marine pilots defied retreat orders to carry out unauthorized recovery missions deep behind enemy lines.
Over the course of three brutal days, these rogue operators pulled dozens of wounded soldiers and civilians from active combat zones. With minimal gear, no air support, and dwindling supplies, they earned the nickname “the Black Tags”—a grim nod to the increasing number of dog tags they carried home. Their actions didn’t just save lives—they redefined what battlefield medicine could be.
But their legacy didn’t end there. Among those rescued were not just UEE soldiers and local civilians—but even a handful of wounded Vanduul warriors. Rescued, stabilized, and left at the edges of neutral ground, it was a controversial act at the time—one that spoke volumes about the Black Tags’ unshakable creed: “If they breathe, we save.”
The seed of ARCOM was planted in that fire.
Disillusioned by bureaucracy and the high cost of hesitation, many of the Black Tags left the military after Vega. But they didn’t leave the mission behind. In 2946, they formed Astral Rescue Command—a militarized, rapid-response medical force designed to answer calls others couldn’t… or wouldn’t.
From that point forward, ARCOM’s purpose was clear: get in fast, stabilize the wounded, and get them out—no matter the cost. They became known for executing complex extractions under fire, bunker breakouts, and deep-space recoveries in places like Stanton, Pyro, Nyx, and beyond.
Unlike civilian medical orgs, ARCOM is fully combat-trained and combat-equipped. Its members are proficient in ship-to-ship combat, ground assaults, zero-G recoveries, and live-fire triage—all while providing overwatch and support to allied medical teams.
They don’t just fly into danger—they fight through it.
Today, ARCOM stands as one of the most respected independent rescue forces in the UEE’s outer systems. Their reputation is built not just on precision and professionalism, but on a singular, unbreakable promise:
“When the stars call for help, we answer.”
